Doctor Appointment
Our doctor isn't too concerned yet about Brady's size. She wants us to progress as planned and address issues as time goes on. She said she would like ultrasounds every two weeks and is having me do the 3 hour glucose test (to test for gestational diabetes) on Wednesday to see if I mistakenly passed the 1 hour test. She feels we are on week 32 and haven't miscalculated as the week 7 ultrasound was "as close as it gets." We briefly discussed vaginal births/c-sections. I would like to avoid a c-section at all costs; however, if the baby is growing at a crazy rate, then we will discuss it later. She expressed her greatest concern with big babies is being able to get the head out but not the "linebacker shoulders." She said in those cases they have to break the collar bone, arm, or something to get them out. It also could lead to long term nerve damage. Obviously this is an issue for Erik and me, so we will continue to talk about his size at each visit. She is very supportive of our wishes and was very reassuring that all will be ok. She doesn't plan on doing anything until week 39 at the earliest - so I'm stuck for the long haul I think...that is unless Brady decides to make an appearance sooner!
