5 days to go!!

So we are on the home stretch! Brady's weight is estimated at 10 lbs. plus or minus 2 lbs. His measurements were "off the charts" according to the computer! And of course he is still breech.
I've got just about everything ready. A neighbor gave me a swing - yay, free! So we used our gift cards for a monitor. So we are just about set.
The only other stress right now is our dog, Kadie. She recently came down with pneumonia and that triggered a flare up (or our acknowledgement) of what we have learned is a neurological disease--myasthenia gravis. So it's been a roller coaster of emotions. She wasn't walking or eating much and after a stay at the vet and a hearty vet bill, she is home and improving day by day. Today while at work I accepted that we would probably have to put her down because she just didn't seem to be happy, enjoying anything, or even mobile. When I got home today she greeted me, walked quite a bit, went potty, and even ate! So who knows. Erik and I refuse to give up too soon on her and know it will be a long road over the next few days. So I just have to be strong!

37 weeks and scheduled C-section

We had our 37 week check up today. My belly measured 46 cm today! Again the Dr. joked that we should go to 42 weeks to see how big he'll get! Brady is still breech, and we are assuming he is continuing to grow rapidly, so we went ahead and scheduled a c-section for 5-5-09...at 5 pm. How fun is that?!? Yes, the Dr. could attempt to turn him; however, she is concerned of his large size and the risks that go along with it (fetal distress, tearing the placenta, etc). She also stated today that my cervix is still closed, and if I was to go into labor, that it would be a long labor - a day or two at least. So with all that to consider, we went ahead and set the appointment for the c-section. We have another appointment and ultrasound next Wednesday to continue to monitor Brady's growth.

36 weeks

My belly keeps growing...and growing and growning. I was measuring 42 cm. today. Dr. Lo believes Brady is still breech. She won't do anything until week 39 unless Brady decides to make an appearance sooner. I think that's about it from our appointment today. We have another ultrasound on the 29th but still meet with the Dr. every Wednesday from here on out. We are off to a Mariner's game; hopefully I will be comfortable!

35 weeks

Our doctor's appointment went well. She was running late and we had our ultrasound immediately after, so we didn't discuss much. During the exam, she said his head was down but not as far as it could be at this point. My uterus was measuring 40-41 weeks. At the ultrasound, I became really sick lying there on my back, so I was kinda out of it. His measurements are consistent with about a 40 week old baby. The measurements estimate he is 7 lbs. 10 oz. plus or minus a pound. He was moving all over - his head was NOT down, it was on my right side, then left, then back on my right again. We meet with Dr. Lo again next Wednesday, so we will go from there. She jokingly said we should wait til week 41 and go for her (and hospital) record - 12 lbs. 4 oz.! I said, "HELL NO!" I guessed he'd be 8-5, so I was midly pleased when the tech said 7-10!

34 weeks

Nothing new on the Brady front this week. We have an appointment next Wednesday as well as an ultrasound immediately following that. He is still moving quite a bit, and I feel like I'm getting huge. My poor feet and ankles are huge and swollen! Erik is taking good care of me, though! Mom and I made a bunch of meals to freeze and Rachel made us a lasagne, so we should be set for a few weeks once Brady comes. It's a big relief to know we have dinners planned, can enjoy our time together, and not stress about what to make!
