32 week Ultrasound

Well here is the big guy. Pretty darn cute! He is still measuring big - 36 weeks. He weighs approximately 6 lbs. 2 oz. give or take about 14 oz. Dr. said not to pay attention to the due date the ultrasound projects; however, it was April 12th. Hopefully he's just going through a growth spurt and is evening out.

Doctor Appointment

Our doctor isn't too concerned yet about Brady's size. She wants us to progress as planned and address issues as time goes on. She said she would like ultrasounds every two weeks and is having me do the 3 hour glucose test (to test for gestational diabetes) on Wednesday to see if I mistakenly passed the 1 hour test. She feels we are on week 32 and haven't miscalculated as the week 7 ultrasound was "as close as it gets." We briefly discussed vaginal births/c-sections. I would like to avoid a c-section at all costs; however, if the baby is growing at a crazy rate, then we will discuss it later. She expressed her greatest concern with big babies is being able to get the head out but not the "linebacker shoulders." She said in those cases they have to break the collar bone, arm, or something to get them out. It also could lead to long term nerve damage. Obviously this is an issue for Erik and me, so we will continue to talk about his size at each visit. She is very supportive of our wishes and was very reassuring that all will be ok. She doesn't plan on doing anything until week 39 at the earliest - so I'm stuck for the long haul I think...that is unless Brady decides to make an appearance sooner!

Brady's room

My mom and sister came over tonight to help finish Brady's room! Rachel brought these super cute letters! We got most of the stuff done--we made the crib, packed the dresser, and put the necessities on the changing table shelves. I am going to put this adorable, hand-made knitted shirt, booties, and hat in a shadow box that was made by a friend's (Spanish) soon-to-be mother-in-law. :) So that will go above the dresser and changing table. I will take a picture of that later! We have an appointment with our doctor Monday and ultrasound Tuesday; I will keep you all
posted! Mom and Cameron felt him move today for the first time. Both of their faces lit up--it was very cute! Other than that, I'm getting BIG. My feet feel huge, and I'm waddling like a good little duck!

Nurse called...

My nurse finally called back today. She said Dr. Lo went over the ultrasound results and wants me to schedule another ultrasound at our next appointment (which is the 16th). She did confirm that his size is greater than it should be for 30 weeks. People have asked if I think I calculated the month of conception incorrectly; however, I was sick almost immediately. Plus, the first two ultrasounds were pretty standard. I think we've just got a BIG BOY! So I'm not going to panic yet!! We are painting the nursery tomorrow evening, and Erik is excited to get the furniture put together over our weekend! It's all beginning to feel real!

BIG BOY!

We had our ultrasound earlier today. It appears that we have a BIG baby! I am 30 weeks tomorrow, but most of the measurements (they do 4 - 2 head, one belly, and one of his femur) indicate 35 weeks. So she gave me a calculated due date of APRIL 10th!! Yikes! He is measuring about 2351 grams - about 5.2 lbs. Now sometimes the weight is not accurate; the tech said they measured her baby to be 9 or so pounds and the next day when she delivered it was only 7 lbs. So I'm not too concerned about the weight as much as the new due date!! That's more than a month early!! Here are two pics of the little dude! The first is a side shot of his face/body. His right hand is above his forehead. The second is of his face - he's lying facing us; I think his mouth is open!
